PEACE DIVIDEND MARKETPLACE AFGHANISTAN (PDM-A)

PROJECT SERVICES

PDM-A provides five main services to support international procurement from local businesses:

PROJECT SERVICES
AFGHANISTAN BUSINESS DIRECTORY

The Afghanistan Business Directory is a comprehensive online business directory featuring full business profiles of over 4,400 Afghan companies organized by sector and location.  The inclusion of each local company in the directory is based on an on-site interview and businesses are then verified on an ongoing basis.  The directory enables international organizations and institutional buyers to gain easy access to Afghan suppliers, who can provide quality goods and services for their business needs.

To be listed in the directory, please contact the Peace Dividend Marketplace Afghanistan office at kabul@peacedividendtrust.org.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

PDT's Business Development Services facilitate transactions between suppliers and buyers by helping international agencies and companies identify cost-competitive and high-quality Afghan products and services.  Local businesses must be registered with PDT in order to be identified as recommend "matches" to international buyers.

PDT has worked with institutional buyers such as the Afghan government; American, Canadian, and British militaries; ISAF; the United Nations and its agencies; and a wide range of domestic and international businesses
.
TENDER DISTRIBUTION SERVICES

PDT's Tender Distribution Services in Afghanistan collect tenders from the international community to provide a "one stop shop" for Afghan businesses looking for new business opportunities.  PDT distributes tenders directly to local companies by email, SMS (which is currently being tested) and on-site.  For interested companies, PDT staff will provide individual assistance in submitting proposals.

For any questions, or if you are interested in receiving tender updates, please contact the Tender Distribution Point Officer at tenders@peacedividendtrust.org.
CAPACITY BUILDING

PDT offers procurement training sessions to Afghan businesses and entrepreneurs.  Training focuses on tender procedures and contracting requirements and standards to build the skill-set and competitiveness of local companies.  The sector-specific sessions are participatory, practical, and draw on case studies to create experiential learning experiences for Afghan entrepreneurs.  Training sessions have so far been held in Kabul, Jalalabad, Mazar-e-Sharif, Kandahar and Herat.
MARKET INFORMATION, ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATIONS

PDT conducts research, identifies emerging opportunities and publishes information about the local market for buyers and suppliers. All opportunities to promote local procurement through marketing materials, seminars and through direct advocacy are pursued.  In recent months, PDT has held conferences with the American military and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in order to increase awareness of the importance of local procurement.
