PEACE DIVIDEND MARKETPLACE TIMOR-LESTE
Timor Business Directory

The Peace Dividend Marketplace Timor-Leste project (PDM-TL) was launched in August 2007. PDM-TL is based in Dili with field offices in Baucau, Covalima, and Viqueque and works with local businesses in each of Timor-Leste's 13 districts.  The PDM-TL project supports long-term economic recovery by increasing procurement of goods and services avaliable in country.

When the international community buys and hires locally, a substantive part of their operational spending directly enters the local economy. The PDM-TL projects achieves this objective by creating jobs, generating rtaxrevemunu ad building the local marketplace. This in turn redirects international donor spending into the local economy.

PDM-TL provides rural economic development services by strategically focusing on the small amounts of personal spending by international staff and agencies operating in the poorest districts of the country as well as facilitating large quantities of goods, services and manpower.  The localized impact of increased business creates a significant economic stimulus in rural districts. The Government of Timor-Leste and the international community support this approach, as rural development is a national priority.

Since August 2007, PDM-TL has achieved results that support rural development by:
  • Created and accelerated over $24 million in local procurement transactions, including $17 million of confirmed new spending
  • Helping facilitate over $7 million into Timor-Leste's rural economy through more than 12,000 business transactions
  • Publishing 13 District Business Guides, detailing which goods and services are provided by businesses in each rural district
